Belgian endive recipe
the endive gratin is a simple lunch idea to get more vegetables, or if don't know what to make from endives except for a salad.This recipe contains a bit of sugar and the bechamel sauce with cheese that helps to counter the bitter taste that endives can have.It is a light recipe, you should count on having it in a full menu with an entry or a dessert.Bon appétit!
Ingredients
- 3 endives
- 3 slices of Ham
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- butter or some oil
- 3 cups bechamel sauce or my bechamel recepie
Bechamel sauce from scratch
- 30 g All purpose Flour
- 30 g butter
- 50 cl milk
- salt and pepper
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Gather the ingredients. If you prepare the béchamel from scratch start by that following the recipe. Then preheat the oven at 410°F Gas, Mark 6 (210°C).
- Braise the endives in a pan. ( cook at a middle-high temperature) Here, with butter but you can use oil. Add, for seasoning, salt pepper, and sugar.
- Get them golden from both sides.
- Then, roll each endive with a slice of ham and place them in a gratin dish.
- Add the bechamèl on top and then the cheese.
- Put the dish in the oven at 410°F Gas, Mark 6 (210°C).
- Take it out when it turns golden brown or about after 20 min.
